The Daily Prayer: Psalm 54

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 54

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you who see and know all things, be merciful to us and help us because we often find ourselves opposed by evil and wicked people. Indeed, our culture is antithetical to you and your Word. It promotes evil and violence; it calls good what you call wicked. It calls wicked what you call good. We know that salvation can only come from your hand, because it is in you that we live and move and have our being. You are the giver and sustainer of life. Our lives, therefore, are in your hands. Yes, everyone is at your disposal at all times. We pray that you will hear us as we cry out to you. We ask that you remember us as you remembered the church of old, as they were opposed and oppressed by evil people, as they languished in Egypt. Please help us and cause those who oppose us to turn to you and repent and trust your beloved Son. If not, Father, please act swiftly with your hand of justice and deal faithfully with our enemies. We know that you will vindicate your people on that great day, but we plead with you to relieve us of those who harm us today. Yet, Father, we also pray that you will use these people to sanctify us and make us more like your Son. Please do your great work in us, despite the efforts of the wicked, we pray and ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
