Psalm 55

Give ear to my prayer, O God,
and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!
2 Attend to me, and answer me;
I am restless in my complaint and I moan,
3 because of the noise of the enemy,
because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they drop trouble upon me,
and in anger they bear a grudge against me.

Prayer: Our God and Father, we come to you in the name of your Son, the only mediator between God and men, knowing that as we do, you will hear us and give ear to our cries for mercy. We are often troubled when those who refuse to bow the knee to you seek our ruin, but we confess that it is much harder to endure when it comes from those who name the name of Christ; from those we worship with week after week.
