Daily Prayer for the Lord's Day, June 29, 2025: 1 John 2:3-6
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. (1 John 2:3-6, ESV)
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we greet you this glorious morning because it is the Lord's Day, the day of rest and the day of worship. We gladly and joyfully come to you today because this day reminds us of the eternal rest you promise to your Redeemed people. You told us in your Word that our Savior goes to prepare a place for us, and we wait patiently for the day when we are ushered into the New Heavens and the New Earth. Please, our God, strengthen us as we continue to make our way through the barrenness of this fallen world, and help us to persevere, using the means you provide so that we may arrive safely in the New Jerusalem and the place of your dwelling. We thank you, Lord, that you feed us on the way. Just as you fed your people the manna from heaven, you feed us with your Son and his Word. We long to hear it today, and may it be the voice of Christ in our hearts. Please remind us to praise you and thank you for your many blessings. Please teach us according to your mercy and grace. Remind us, Father, of our need to walk with you, obeying you and following you. Please forgive us for those times when we wander from the narrow way. Please grant us a heart zealous to love you, and may we express our love by faithfully keeping your commands. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
