Daily Prayer for February 10, 2026: Psalm 2

Why do the nations rage
    and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
    and the rulers take counsel together,
    against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart
    and cast away their cords from us.”

10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
    be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
    and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
    lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
    for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Psalm 2:1-3; 10-12, ESV)

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are the true sovereign over all that your hands have made. You made all things, and they are yours. You dwell in the heavens,s and you do what pleases you. It has pleased you to establish governments to rule over the citizens of this earth, and we know that those people are in their positions of power and authority because you alone put them there. Yet, Father, we see these ministers behaving as though you do not exist. Many of them live in a way that is an abomination before you. They are arrogant, proud, haughty, and boisterous. They promote that which is evil in your sight while denigrating that which is good and righteous. Some slaughter your people because they advance the cause of your beloved Son. Some imprison your people due to their love for you and the Gospel. Some are more passive, undermining the very fabric of what you call good and right as outlined in your Word. We see our leaders promote wickedness of every kind, from abortion to homosexual marriage. We witness the confusion their sin creates, and we grieve the state of these things. We know you sit in the heavens and laugh at the efforts of evil people to overthrow your plans and purposes. We know that their ruin will come if they do not repent and look to you. Therefore, we plead with you to give us godly leaders. We ask you to change the hearts and minds of these people you have placed in these positions. We ask that you would be pleased to run them in the fear of you. Father, we cannot change their hearts. Only you can do that. We can pray and preach and plead, but you are the God who made them, and you are the God who must change them if they are ever to turn to you. We ask for you to be willing to do that, according to your infinite wisdom. We pray these things through Christ our Lord, the true King. Amen.
