Season 11 | Edition 48
June 2, 2026
SUMMARY:
This sermon on Psalm 70 presents a powerful cry for divine intervention in the midst of personal suffering and opposition, emphasizing the urgency of turning to God in times of distress. Centered on the psalmist’s plea for God to act swiftly, the message highlights the spiritual reality of godless individuals who live in moral confusion, delight in the suffering of the righteous, and seek to destroy through slander and deceit. Yet, amid this turmoil, the believer is called to respond not with fear or retaliation, but with joyful confidence in God’s sovereignty, declaring 'God is great' even in poverty and need. The preacher underscores that God’s timing is perfect, and though He may delay, His presence as help and deliverer remains unshaken. Ultimately, the sermon calls the faithful to approach God as a loving Father with urgent, trusting prayer, knowing that His power surpasses every earthly threat.
Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
O Lord, make haste to help me!
2 Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who delight in my hurt!
3 Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, “Aha, Aha!”
4 May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, “God is great!”
5 But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!
