The Morning Devotional: Psalm 91

Prayer: Our God in heaven, we give you thanks for being a refuge we can turn to as we walk through this world full of sin and strife. We praise you for condescending to our lowly estate and sheltering us from the burning rays of this world's fallen condition. We thank you for proving yourself to be a faithful God who has promised us good and glorious things and has performed them all to your praise and glory and for our good. We know that we can trust you, Father, because you love us and gave your Son to die for our sins. We thank you for protecting us from the world, the flesh, and the devil, and providing the means by which we can find relief - your Word, prayer, and the sacraments of the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you for hearing us when we call out to you, for satisfying our souls with good, and for promising us a place in your heavenly kingdom. Forgive us, Lord, when we struggle to trust you. Forgive us for forgetting how much you love us. Grant us a great work of your Spirit and remind us of these words in this Psalm as we journey to our heavenly rest. We pray these things in the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.
