The Daily Prayer: Psalm 57

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 57

Prayer: Our God in heaven, we know you to be a kind and merciful God, blessing your people with your favor due to the work of your suffering servant, the Lord Jesus Christ. We know that your Son suffered in ways that we can hardly imagine. We are too ignorant to understand the many ways he suffered for our sake fully. He was led like a sheep to be slaughtered. He endured the cruelness of men made in his image. He endured the suffering of the cross and the shame that came when he took our sin to himself. He was ridiculed, mocked, and scorned for our sake. Yet, he entrusted himself to you and would not let go. We, too, like our Savior, suffer at the hands of evil people. We are often mocked for our love for you and commitment to your Word. Shortsighted and blind people often ridicule us. Yet, Father, we know that you design these things to conform us into the image of your Son. Yet we often doubt, and as a result, we falter and fail you. Forgive us, Father. Please be merciful to us and uphold us during times of opposition. Please be merciful and free us from the miseries of this fallen world. Please cause us to praise you despite the darkness of these times, and may we never stop trusting you all of our days. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
