The Daily Prayer: Psalm 53
The Morning Devotional: Psalm 53
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, you alone are God and our God. You have brought us into union and communion with you through the work of your beloved Son, the king and head of his church. Without your eternal love poured out on us, we would be living as fools in this world. Without the work of the Eternal Spirit, we would be those who are lost, committing abominable deeds and suffering the due consequences of our sins. Yet, in Christ, you were pleased to rescue us and place us into the church fashioned by your hands. It is due to your great love that you defend the church and promise to always be with it. We give you thanks that we are not described as fools, but sons. WE give you thanks that you did not leave us to ourselves, treating us as our sins deserve. We pray, our God, for those outside the church. WE pray for our family members who do not know you. We pray for our friends who are living as fools in this world. We pray that you would be pleased to draw them to yourself. We plead with you to give them eyes to see and ears to hear so they, like us, can glorify your great name in the church purchased by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray these things through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
