The Daily Prayer: Psalm 51

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 51

Prayer: Our God in heaven, we thank you for being kind and compassionate to workers and struggling sinners. Though you could pour out your wrath against us for the many ways we sin against you, you chose to crush your Son for our sake. We thank you for being our Father who is pleased to forgive us and cleanse us from our iniquities. We know that we sin daily in thought, word, and deed. We know there are times when our sins are heinous, leading to your hand of discipline on us. Father, please help us to be watchful as we journey to our heavenly rest. Please teach us to watch and pray so we will not enter into temptation. Please, when we are tempted, support and deliver us! Father, we grieve the reality of indwelling sin. We know it offends you. We know it keeps us from loving you and others perfectly. We know that it sometimes leads to transgressions against your law. Please forgive us and wash us. Please cleanse us and restore to us the joy of your salvation. Please give us grace upon grace so we will not sin against you. Teach us to hide your Word in our hearts and lead us in the paths of righteousness. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
