Daily Prayer for June 24, 2025: Psalm 1:2

but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
(Psalm 15:2, ESV)

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we know that your Word tells us that man does not live by bread alone. We thank you for your daily provision of food to sustain our physical bodies, but we also know that you provide us with your Word to sustain us as we pilgrim through this sin-wrecked world. We thank you for the preservation of your Word throughout the centuries, and we praise you for your wisdom to move men to write what you want us to know about you, and what you require of us. Sadly, our God, we often overlook the importance of reading and meditating on your Word. We confess that we are frequently distracted by frivolous things and do not spend the time in your Word to refresh our souls and strengthen us for the journey ahead. We confess that we sometimes read it with little thought and do not allow it to dwell in us. We further confess that we often measure our walk with you by the amount of Scripture we consume, but find that it does not consume us. Please forgive us for our lack of diligence in reading, studying, and meditating on your Word. Please forgive us for our lack of desire to understand your mind as you give it in the Holy Scriptures. Please give us renewed love and attention to the eternal matters penned by the inspired writers and grant us your Spirit to help us understand and bring forth the fruit of it in our lives. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
