Daily Prayer for February 25, 2026: Psalm 6

O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger,
    nor discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
    heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul also is greatly troubled.
    But you, O Lord—how long?

4 Turn, O Lord, deliver my life;
    save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of you;
    in Sheol who will give you praise?

6 I am weary with my moaning;
    every night I flood my bed with tears;
    I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief;
    it grows weak because of all my foes.

8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil,
for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my plea;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
(Psalm 6:1-10, ESV)

Prayer: Our Father, we know that you are a God who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love for thousands, forgiving the iniquity and transgression of sin for those who seek it from you. We give you thanks and praise because you have not treated us as we deserve. Yet, we do find this life to be full of hardship as we pilgrim to our heavenly rest. We know that we are not immune to the troubles of this sin-wrecked world. We face sickness of every kind. We notice the effects of sin on our bodies as we age. We wrestle with chronic pain. We are often frustrated with it and forget that you design those acts of discipline to teach us to walk in dependence on you. We are easily turned to depending on ourselves because we are selfish people. We know that you design these things for our good, but we often forget to cry out to you for grace and mercy. We confess that our physical struggles affect our souls and sometimes lead us astray. It is here, Father, that we miss the blessing of suffering. Still, we seek relief. We plead with you to help us find peace in the midst of turmoil and give rest to weary souls. We know you are good and do all things well. Your wisdom is beyond our understanding. Teach us to trust you in our times of struggle, and may we always be ready to praise you, whatever happens to us. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
