The Morning Devotional: Psalm 99

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you are holy, and we are not. You are worthy of our worship, not because you need it from us, but because we need you. We desire your presence, and we know that we have it each time we gather as your people. It is there, our God, that you speak to us as you spoke to your people through your servants of old. It is there that you use ordained men to read and proclaim your Word. We hear your voice through the weakness of men and are comforted. We thank you for ordaining worship for us. We thank you for giving us the means by which we can grow in grace and the knowledge of your Son. We thank you for telling us how to approach you each Lord's Day. Forgive us, Father, for those times when we do not take your worship seriously. Forgive us for treating you as common, forgetting that you are the thrice-holy God of heaven and earth. Please help us and guide us, we ask and pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
