The Morning Devotional: Psalm 97

Prayer: Our God, you alone are the only living and true God, and you alone deserve our praise and worship because you made us for that purpose. You have revealed yourself to us by creating all things, and we witness those things each day. In it we see your glory and power. In them we know there is a God and he is holy and righteous, a hater of all things false and evil. We give you thanks for all that you have done, and we give you thanks for what you are doing. We especially thank you for redeeming us and establishing the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is there that we uniquely praise you. As such, we are commanded to resist idolatry and all forms of evil. We confess that we often replace you with false gods. We confess that we often forget to honor you with our words and lives. Forgive us, Father. Please help us to love you because you first loved us and help us to honor you this day. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
