The Daily Prayer: Psalm 85

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 85

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are the author of salvation, and you alone purpose to redeem a people to yourself. You have promised by way of covenant to be our God. You have promised to be faithful, loving, and kind to your church and the redeemed of the Lord. Yet, our God, we know that we live in a sinful and adulterous generation. We witness your hand of judgment on the nation and on your church. We confess that we have been faithless in the things of the Lord. Too often, we are seen building our kingdom instead of the kingdom of your dear Son. Too often we set our minds on things of this fleeting life instead of the things about. Too often, we store up treasures on this earth rather than in the place of your dwelling. Father, we confess that we have not always loved you as we should. We confess that our actions often show our low affection for you and your Son. Father, we grieve the state of things. We mourn the reality of our sins that have led the culture to this abominable place. We take responsibility because you have told us to be salt and light in this world. Forgive us, Lord. Revive us again and restore to us the joy of your salvation. Bring a revival to our land as you have done in the past. Please forgive us and cleanse our iniquities, removing them far from us. Bury our sins into the deepest ocean and pour out your Spirit anew so the whole world will stand in awe of you. We desire your glory above all things. Shatter our hearts with the gospel. Work in us a great love for you and the lost of this world. Burden us with a zeal to see your glory, we ask and pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
