The Daily Prayer: Psalm 84

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 84

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are worthy of our praise because you have redeemed us from sin and misery. You have made us to worship you and to find our hope and joy in you. Yet, because of our sin, we find that it is often a struggle to long for you as we should. Though we were made to honor you, we sometimes find ourselves running from you. Father, we know that this is contrary to the purpose for which you saved us. We know that we will never find true joy and satisfaction in this life until we are consumed in the whole man with your presence. We confess our weak affection and wandering hearts. We confess that our spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak. We look to you, therefore, to work in us a strong desire to be close to you. We look to you, knowing that a day in your presence is better than anything else this life can offer. We trust you, knowing that you will continue to conform us into the image of Christ who loved you and did all your holy will for the sake of poor sinners. We know that a day is coming when we will be in your presence and worship you with all our hearts. Until then, Father, please continue to guide us and help us. Please give us a zeal for you and your name. Please help us to honor you with our lives. These things we humbly ask, for the sake of Christ our Lord. Amen.
