The Daily Prayer: Psalm 82

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 82

Prayer: Our God, we live in a sin-wrecked world, and we witness the oppression of the poor and needy by wicked and ruthless people. They seek their own way. They have no understanding of your mercy and kindness. They do not fear you. They live as though there is no justice on this earth or in the life to come. We know that you stand as Judge over them, but sometimes we falter in thinking you are doing nothing, though we know that your ways are higher than ours. We plead for relief from the hands of tyrants. We know that many of our brothers and sisters languish under the rule of evil people. Please help them. Please spare them from the atrocities brought about by these people. Give justice, our God. Maintain the right of the afflicted, for your eye is always on the weak and needy of this world. Rescue the weak and strengthen the downcast. Be pleased to bring the hope of the Gospel to those evil rulers. If you are not so pleased, destroy them for the sake of your sheep, we ask and pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
