The Morning Devotional: Psalm 79

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you are holy and just, and you cannot overlook sin in the lives of your creatures. Because of our sin, you were pleased to crush your Son as the atoning sacrifice for us. As your people, we struggle with sin, and we know that you will discipline us to bring us into conformity with your Son. We do not desire you to be angry with us when we stray from your commands. In fact, we know that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Yet, we know that you will discipline us out of love, proving that we belong to you. Please help us to keep short accounts of sin in our lives. Please help us to daily confess our sins and turn away from them. Please help us to accept your discipline as it happens and be thankful for it. Please remember that we are your people. Do not abandon us to our sin, but kindly and gently rebuke us and bring us in line with your Word. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
