The Daily Prayer: Psalm 71

The Morning Devotional: Psalm 71

Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are God, and there is no other. You are the one who orders all things according to the counsel of your infinitely wise will. You have decreed all things, and nothing comes to pass without your direct care and involvement. You govern the affairs of men, and you especially watch over the actions and events of your Redeemed people. Though we are made in your image, we have been subjected to the fall into sin committed by Adam. We are, therefore, sinners, and we not only witness the effects of it in our walk with you, but we also see it in our bodies as they grow old. It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment. Because of sin, our bodies are decaying moment by moment. Each day, we see the effects of this fallen world on us. As we age, we feel the aches and pains of this life. We find ourselves tiring easily and struggling to remember the most basic things. We know that you have appointed unto us the day of our death, and nothing we do will stop that from happening. Yet, we also know that you are faithful to us and, in Christ, we have no reason to fear what will come tomorrow. We are held by your hand in life and death. AS we age, we are thankful that we can remember your faithfulness to us through all the years of our lives. Additionally, Father, we desire to be useful to those who come behind us. Help us to teach them and model for them a faithful, steady, and persevering walk with you. Please help us to teach them your ways and commands. Please give us strength and help us not to grow weary in doing good, we ask and pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
