The Daily Prayer: Psalm 48
The Morning Devotional: Psalm 48
Prayer: Our great God, you who established the church of your dear Son, we give you thanks for the tremendous blessing of the assembly of the redeemed. We thank you for giving us the King and Head of the church. It is through his labor and work that we come to be a part of the family of God. It is because of him that the church will be purified, perfected, and made ready for her husband. Yet, Father, we know that the church is battered and bruised as it makes its pilgrimage to the new heavens and earth. WE acknowledge that the church has true and false sons living within her; wheat and tares; sheep and goats. We struggle with divisions and heresies, and we see the enemy of the church trying with all his might to destroy the church. Yet, Father, you have promised to protect her, and you do. You defend the bride of your Son against all enemies. Because you never fail to watch over the church, we can trust you and find joy in you. We thank you for giving us this place in which we hear your Word and learn of you. We pray for your church and ask that you will guard her and protect her. We pray for you to strengthen her and her witness in this world. We pray for your church to faithfully proclaim the truth of your Word. We pray that you will raise up faithful ministers to labor in your Kingdom. Most of all, Father, we pray that your church will glorify you in every way and at all times. We pray these things through Christ our Lord and the King of his church. Amen.
