Jonathan Edwards: Resolutions
#5 Resolved, never to lose one moment of time; but improve it the most profitable way I possibly can.
#7 Resolved, never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if it were the last hour of my life.
#19 Resolved, never to do any thing, which I should be afraid to do, if I expected it would not be above an hour, before I should hear the last trump.
Praying for the Local Church
· Worship.
· Preaching:
o Preparation for the pastor each week.
o Pray for fruit to come from the preaching of the Word of God.
· Growth (spiritual and numerical).
o Please pray for ten new families/individuals to join us this year.
o Please pray that we would be a congregation committed to the glory of God (WSC Q1; 1 Cor. 10:31); that we would grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Pet. 3:18)
· Outreach:
o Trail Life
o American Heritage Girls.
· The Session.
· The finances of the church.
· A church building
o Pray for the first meeting of the building search committee this coming Lord’s Day.
· The presbytery:
o Churches without a pastor (Westminster-Vincennes and Grace - Carbondale)
· The Presbyterian Church in America
· Our families:
o Pray for those who are diligently laboring to teach their children the WSC.
o Pray for godly families.
o Pray for our covenant children.
o Pray for the conversion of our unsaved family members.
Praying for the Needs of the Saints and the World
· The persecuted church and our brothers and sisters abroad.
· Our nation (1 Tim 2:1-2)
o The POTUS and his cabinet
o The V-P
o Congress
· The church in the USA: revival, and repentance.
· Pray for the Sireci’s as they are expecting their second child.
· The Riley’s request prayer for their cousin, Cindy Rasure.
· David Matzen requests prayer for his son (job) and daughter (health issues); friend (David) who is having health issues and the doctors are struggling to help.
· Kay Keller requests prayer for her grandson (12) who is suffering with Crohn’s Disease. Praise for her son and family who have moved to the area and are closing on their house.
· Prayer for the Scroggins family (health).
· Pastor Bill and Gwen request prayer for their oldest daughter and son-in-law (marital issues).
