have worked salvation for him.

he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
All: He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.

the salvation of our God.

~WORSHIP IN CONFESSION~
SCRIPTURE LESSON Matthew 27:1-31 Mr. David Matzen, Ruling Elder
Jesus is tried before Pilate and sentenced; He is delivered to be crucified; and mocked by His executioners. “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23).
CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN
All: Our Father, you were pleased to crush your only begotten Son for our sakes. Though he knew no sin, and there was no wrong in him, he patiently suffered the cruel onslaught of wicked people for the good of those he came to redeem. Due to our sin, your Son willingly underwent those terrible things. It was due to our transgressions that the Lord Jesus suffered and died. We are humbled at your grace in giving us your Son that we might not suffer at the hands of your infinite wrath. As your redeemed people, we praise you for your infinite kindness. Yet, we acknowledge that though we are a new creation, we still fall short of your glory. We fail to love you with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. We have not loved our neighbor as we love ourselves. Forgive us, Father. Please grant us the forgiveness you promised to those who humble themselves before you. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Isaiah 53:4-5
Minister:
Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
All: Amen.
