~WORSHIP IN PRAISE~

§CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 100
Minister:
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
All: Amen!

§PRAYER OF INVOCATION

§PSALM Come, Thou Almighty King #212

~WORSHIP IN CONFESSION~

SCRIPTURE LESSON Matthew 26:36-75 Mr. Chris Turner, Ruling Elder
Jesus prays in Gethsemane; is betrayed by Judas; is arrested, tried and condemned before Caiaphas the high priest, and is denied by Peter. Jesus prays when others fail to pray. He encourages others when they are overcome by sorrow. He submits to the will of God when others resist God’s purposes.

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN

All: Our Father, as we have heard your Word read this morning, we are reminded of the great work of your Son on our behalf. He submitted himself to your will and delighted in it that he might save a people from their sin and misery. We are those people he prayed for, and we are those people he determined to redeem. Unlike our Savior, there are times when we wrestle against your will as given to us in your Word. Though we know that those things you tell us are designed for our good, there are times when we go astray and wander like helpless lambs. Forgive us, Father, for being slow to learn and obey. Please grant us the willingness and ability, through and by your holy Spirit, to do all that you have told us. We thank you that you are patient with us, and we thank you for the forgiveness that comes through the atoning work of your Son and our Lord we pray in his name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
1 Peter 2:22-25
Minister: He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
All: Amen.
