WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

GREETING, SALUTATION, AND VOTUM

Our help is in the name of the Lord, maker of heaven and Earth. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

~WORSHIP IN PRAISE~

§CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 95:1-6, Responsively

Minister:
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
All:
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Minister:
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
All:
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
Minister:
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
All:
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

All: Amen!

§PSALM O Come, Let Us Sing #95B

~WORSHIP IN CONFESSION~

SCRIPTURE LESSON Matthew 22:15-46 Mr. David Matzen, Ruling Elder

Jesus disputes with the Pharisees and Sadducees regarding various questions: paying taxes to Caesar, the resurrection of the dead, the greatest of the commandments, and the identity of David’s son and Lord in Psalm 110:1. As they attempt to entrap Jesus, they themselves are ensnared.

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN

All: Our Father in heaven, the One who has made all things and all creatures for Your glory and purpose, we humbly bow before Your majesty this Lord’s Day to thank You and praise You for the work of your hands. You have made us to bear your image. Therefore, You have made us to live our lives in faithful obedience to all of Your commands. Yet, we sin and fall short of Your glory. Your Word tells us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbor as we love ourselves. We desire to obey You but confess that we have loved ourselves more than You this week and have not served our neighbor as you have told us. Forgive us, Father. Grant to us the cleansing that can only come through the work and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. These things we pray in His Name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Psalm 103:8-12

Minister:
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

All: Amen.
