Scripture Lesson Exodus 2
The provision of a redeemer to deliver God’s weary and enslaved people from the hands of their enemies.
Corporate Confession of Sin
Minister: My brethren, let each of you present himself before the face of the Lord, and confess his faults and sins, praying together with me:
All: Our great God in heaven, we confess to you our frailty as creatures of dust. We so often forget your promises, and we so often fail to flee to you when adversaries rise up against us. We dwell in a wicked land, but you, O Lord, are our sure refuge and strength. Forgive us for forgetting your promises. Forgive us for forgetting your mighty works of old. Grant us greater faith and zeal to place our whole life in your hands. We pray in the name of the Commander of the army of the LORD, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
2 Chronicles 7:14
Minister: [I]f my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
All: Amen
Confession of Faith The Apostles’ Creed
Ruling Elder Mason Scroggins
Elder: Congregation, what is it that you believe?
All:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,?
Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary;
suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirt;
the holy catholic (1) church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen
(1) The term “catholic” means universal.
Pastoral Prayer and Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
