WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

§CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 29:1-2; 10-11
Minister:
Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.
May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!
All: Amen.

§PRAYER OF INVOCATION

§HYMN When Morning Gilds the Skies #157

SCRIPTURE LESSON Jeremiah 9:12-24
The wise man boasts in the LORD

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN

All: Grant almighty God that as your redeemed people, we would know how rich we are through our Savior's willingness to become poor for our sakes. We confess that we are prone to pride and arrogance, and too often, we boast in ourselves and place our hope in riches and things. Forgive us, Father. Please grant us a greater understanding of your steadfast love, justice, and righteousness, knowing that you delight in these things. This we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Psalm 113:5-8

Minister:
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
All: Amen.

CONFESSION OF FAITH Westminster Confession of Faith Ch. 12

Minister: What do the Scriptures teach regarding the doctrine of adoption?
All those that are justified, God vouchsafeth, in and for his only Son Jesus Christ, to make partakers of the grace of adoption, by which they are taken into the number, and enjoy the liberties and privileges of the children of God, have his name put upon them, receive the Spirit of adoption, have access to the throne of grace with boldness, are enabled to cry, Abba, Father, are pitied, protected, provided for, and chastened by him, as by a father: yet never cast off, but sealed to the day of redemption; and inherit the promises, as heirs of everlasting salvation.

PASTORAL PRAYER AND LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
